Attendance

We aim to work in partnership with parents and carers in making education a success and in ensuring that all children have equal and fair full-time access to all that the school has to offer. High attainment, confidence with peers and staff and future aspirations are supported by good attendance.

We appreciate the support of all our parents and carers in making sure their child is able to achieve the maximum possible attendance and acting with us to address patterns of absence.

For our children to take full advantage of the educational opportunities offered it is vital a child is at school, on time, every day the school is open, unless the reason for the absence is unavoidable.

The table below provides an illustration the effects of non-attendance on learning time.

Reporting Absence

We understand that children fall ill or may be absent due to exceptional circumstances. Any non-attendance at school must be reported on the first day of absence. Please contact the School Office by telephone as soon as possible and record the details of your child's absence by message or with the School Office Team.

Absence During Term Time

If you need to make a request for leave of absence please complete this Somerset form;

Authorised absence may only be allowed in exceptional circumstances. Family holidays during term time cannot normally be authorised for this reason. Routine medical appointments should be taken outside of school hours wherever possible, although emergency appointments, and hospital appointments, would be accepted as these are exceptional. Please see our attendance policy for more details.
