Pupil Premium and Looked After Children

The Pupil Premium Grant, which is additional to main school funding, is intended to address any  underlying inequalities between children eligible for free school meals (FSM) and their peers by ensuring that funding to tackle disadvantage reaches the pupils who need it most.

The Pupil Premium Grant was introduced in April 2011 and is allocated to schools to work with pupils who have been registered for free school meals at any point in the last six years (known as ‘Ever 6 FSM’). Schools also receive funding for children who have been looked after continuously for more than six months, and children of service personnel.

Annually we publish our plan with the specific details on how we will use this funding to support our Pupil Premium pupils to reach their fullest potential. We also publish our review of the impact of this funding from the previous year. you can access these reports here.

Please read the information below which gives details of our Pupil Premium Grant and how we allocate the funding.
If you think you may be eligible to apply for Pupil Premium for your child then you can apply to your County Council. Please contact the school office if you would like any further information or support.

Looked After Children

At Kilmersdon School we strive to promote the inclusion, well-being and achievement of children in school who are looked after.

The Governing Body and teaching staff are committed to following the current government guidelines in the support of young people in care. They have appointed a designated teacher and Governor who will act as advocates for these children and promote their needs and well being whilst in the school.

The Designated teacher for Children Looked After is Stephen Bamford (Head Teacher)

For support and guidance, Kilmersdon School works alongside BANES and Somerset Virtual Schools.
